"Hi, I'm Dr. Larry Klein. I'm a dentist here in St. Petersburg, Florida. Today, we're going to go over a little bit, about how to use mouthwash. Everybody knows, you simply take a little bit, put it in your mouth, swish it around. There are different types of mouthwash, though. I think that that's important to know. Some of the ones such as Listerine, have a lot of alcohol in it, so anything that's got a lot of alcohol, if you're on different medications, where you may have dry mouth anyway, you need to basically keep that alcohol content very minimal, so you either need to dilute it, or swish for a very, very short period of time. There are available mouthwashes that do not have any alcohol. Those would be the ones that I would probably prescribe for most people, but anyway, with alcohol, basic mouthwashes, use it for a short period of time, ten to fifteen seconds is sufficient. The Listerine, they recommend longer than that, but like I said, because of the high alcohol content, I don't quite agree with that, so if you have any other questions about mouthwashes in general, feel free to give me a call. I'm Larry Klein, where a smile is contagious."
