How to Control Whiteflies on Outdoor Plants

"Hi, I'm Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb. Whiteflies, one of the real problems in the yard and garden. If you've gardenias, you've got citrus, many plants succumb to this problem. Now remember that the whitefly is actually a tiny little fly that leaves a little silvery dot on the back of a leaf. And on that little dot is actually the egg stage or the stage that's going to pupate out that's going to feed upon your plant. As quickly as they feed they excrete. Now one of the things you can do is get your little sprayer out and you can use either something like this backpack or a one gallon pump sprayer and I'd either use something like neem oil, neem oil is an organic based product made from the neem tree from Africa, so it's safe, relatively safe, I consider it organic, or you can use one of the other products that labels it for whiteflies. You might find some of the other pesticides. I tend to like to use even soapy water or some of the oil sprays. Now you can even use an organic type idea of taking a piece of wood and painting it with a yellow color on it and then putting a sticky material on there like oil.
