My name is Keeley Selvage with Keeley Skin Solutions. I have been a clinical aesthetician for over half a decade and I am going to talk to you about lip skin problems. Now there are a few more common ones that we can talk about. The first one being lip swelling. Now a lot of times that is caused from an allergic reaction and it would be a process of elimination to determine what exactly it was. It could be maybe a lip balm, could be something you ate, and then generally once you remove that element the lips will go down. They will return to their normal size. It could also come from cold or hot weather, sunburn, these are some different things that can cause lip swelling. Another common lip problem is called angular cheilitis. Now what that is, is when we get the corners of our mouth, they get red, and cracked. A lot of people have that, and that can be a deficiency of B12, it can also be from excessive licking or chapped lips. It can also be because maybe dentures don't fit right. All of those things will cause abnormal folds in the corners of the mouth and as a result angular cheilitis. Now what you can also do is because sometimes that condition can be fungal, is you can go to the drug store and get something for athlete's foot. That's both an antibacterial and an anti-fungal and that will heal it right up. Not Vaseline or lip balm alone, but get that athlete's foot cream and that will help it. My name is Keeley Selvage with Keeley Skin Solutions and that is all about lip skin problems.
