"Hey my name is Shawn and I am here with the Wilmington Boxing and Fitness Center and I am here today talk to you about thick versus thin mats. Here in my hand this is a yoga mat, it is very thin, and it is used for yoga class or pilates, and it is good it is very firm and how it feels. And how you want to use it, is if you were doing yoga or pilates you will want to take your shoes off because it gives a nice surface for good for good support and everything. And it is good for doing yoga. Like doing the downward dog. Side planks. But one of the disadvantages of using this kind of mat is if you were doing sit-ups or things on the floor it is too thin and could have you could have some back problems if you wanted to do sit-ups and things like that if, if your back is not strong enough, so that is why you would use the thicker mat here. It is a little bit thicker mat a little bit firmer. And it is good for doing sit-ups. Because it gives you more back support and it is also good if you were doing plyometric training like say jump squats because it is a soft cushion so, it takes a lot of impact off your knees instead of landing on a on a harder surface. So that is the difference of using thick versus thin mats."
