Hi my name is Jonathan and I'm with Champion MMA and today we are going to be talking about best hand weight for shadow boxing. Ideally you want to have something similar to this dumbbell. I use three pounds sometimes. If you don't, and you have a disc this also can be useful but I would recommend something like this, like a dumbbell because it puts you already with the hand grip for the punches. The reason I use when I shadow box dumbbells is because it gets you into having the heavier weights in your hands and by the time you put on your gloves, your gloves are going to be, it is going to feel very light. Another thing that is good about shadow is this is the way you are going to be fighting somebody, that's the way you are going to be looking into fighting somebody so shadow boxing is very important and I recommend to have a mirror in front of you when you do this and that way you can always check yourself, your feet work, hand work, and your head work. I am going to do a little demonstration on how I shadow box, begin to loosen your body by stretching and then you proceed into the mirror lightly as the round progresses. I usually use three minute rounds, two minute rounds for every time I shadow before I do any workout. In this case you always want to make sure your hands are up, bring your punches, do some foot work, making sure you are checking balance, always those hands up, checking your jab, checking your right hooks and that's the best way for shadow boxing.
