"Hi, I'm Laura from YoungWritersWorkshops.com. And I'm going to talk about Reciprocal Teaching. Reciprocal Teaching is teaching where a teacher attempts to put the student in the role of the teacher. And to create a dialog about body of work or a piece of writing. And there are some really specific steps. That the teacher takes to create this dialog. So after the students and teachers ave all read the material. Or had a chance to experience material. The first step is summarizing. So the teacher might ask a student to summarize. What was read. The next step is question generation. Which might mean that students raise their hand. And repeat questions or give, give ideas of questions. That they have after reading the material. Then a student might clarify some of the, some things about the material. And then the students might predict by trying to come up with their own solutions. To some of the questions. These strategies have really specific purpose. And in research about this, research where people have employed this method. With students who are at risk or in need of extra structure. There's a huge percentage increase in the amount of comprehension. That the students have on tests, after taking after. On this material that they've been employing in Reciprocal Teaching approach. So this can be, this is a research based approach. To helping increase your students comprehension. It can also engage them and make them a have a better overall feeling.
