"Hello my name is Mark Blocker and in this segment we are going to cover why are florescent lights more efficient? Here we have a standard incandescent bulb. It uses a filament that is electronically charged and then a gas inside to keep the filament from burning out and a florescent light bulb uses a gas charged bulb assembly and electricity to excite the gas that causes the gas to glow. Florescent bulbs use a much lower operating voltage and much less current. They're typically about 75% more efficient than an incandescent bulb of the same wattage or luminous rating and they last much longer, probably up to anywhere from 8 to 12 times longer than a standard incandescent bulb. O'kay to put it simply florescent bulbs are more efficient because they use less energy. That's why florescent light bulbs are more efficient."
