"Hello my name is Mark Blocker and in this segment we are going to cover how to fix PVC water pipes. O'kay if you have got a PVC water pipe that is damaged due to freezing or something of that nature and you have got a split in it what you need to do is cut that bad section out and then we are going to glue in the replacement section and repair it. If it is just a small break, an inch or so usually just one slip fitting will do the trick, if not you are going to need two to replace the larger section one on each end. We are also going to need a way to cut that out, a hacksaw or any type of saw works good. You are going to need some PVC primer and PVC glue. Once you have cut out your bad sections, first you will need to coat your pieces with primer. Prior to that we are going to test fit them and make sure they go on both pieces correctly and fit o'kay. Now I am going to primer all the fittings inside on both sides on the slip fittings and just a quick coat of primer and that will dry in just a few seconds. Then what we are going to need to do is apply the glue to it. After I have got the primer on I am going to set these up on some blocks so that they can dry all the way around. Next I am going to apply the glue. I am going to wipe off the excess here and I'm just going to go around each fitting one time and get a good coat. I am going to let that sit there and soak in and you want to keep in mind that you have got a time limit here, you have only got a couple of minutes to work with so you don't want to mess around. You want to make sure you get a good application on each fitting and then to glue it in place just simply slide it on, squeezing out all the glue, a slight twist, slide the other one in and then you can give that center coupling a twist. Just hold it together for a few seconds and it will bond. That glue should dry in just a few minutes, give it probably five, ten minutes and you can apply water pressure. That's how you fix a PVC pipe."
