"Are you thinking of starting a business and looking for grants that will help you fund the initial development of that company? Hi, this is Roger Groh at Groh Asset Management. We're here today to talk about grants and where to get them and how to look for them. Well until a couple of years ago, both the US government and states and cities is all offered various grants. Today though it's much more difficult because of the budget problems that exist across all government levels. So your applications have to be tighter and more explicit. You have to theme it in order to really fit into the niches that still exist today. I wouldn't borrow with the states at this point. I would look mostly to the cities who are looking to redevelop and re-energize their inner cities. Frequently those grants are tied to real estate grants. Sounds strange but if they have empty storefronts, whatever they can get in there, they're looking for. Other areas to go, the Small Business Administration is part of the federal government is a great place to start. They're broke now but they nonetheless will offer you great help in terms of other places to look for money. Don't be defeated when you first get no, you have to keep trying. I'm Roger Groh with Groh Asset, thank you very much for spending time with me."
