Writing a script for a music video is pretty similar to writing a script for a TV show or a documentary or a biography. Basically go by the rule of thumb preproduction is 90% of the production. So as long as you have your I's dotted and your T's crossed, you know what you're going to want to accomplish. Before you start your script you'll have a pretty good idea and the pen will just keep on flowing. In other words, with a music video what you want to know is you want to have a pretty good idea of how the video's going to be shot. What your actual video is going to look like in the end or what your singer or artist actually sings about or raps about, you're going to want to have a pretty good idea on what they're image is and what they're going to want to portray and what the lyrics of the song are. Based upon that, you'll be able to write your script out a lot easier because you'll have a general direction of what direction that particular artist is going. So if you want to write a script for a music video, make sure you know the direction your video is going to go, what type of video it's going to be, what type of artist you're working with and what type of story that you want to tell. Those things should help you be on your way to at least start.
