"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to talk to you about Microsoft Silverlight. Let's go to our web browser and pull up a website that uses Microsoft Silverlight. Silverlight is basically Microsoft's sort of version of a flash that allows web developers to put animations and interactive controls inside of their web pages. Let's go to "www.microsoft.com/silverlight" and I'll show you what it is. As you can see this little screen has popped up in the middle here that has this control sort of animated thing that as I highlight my mouse over different icons they highlight and I can scroll through different items. And if I pull one of these web pages up, basically if the web page is designed to use Microsoft Silverlight and you have it installed on your browser, it will display sort of animations and allow you to kind of interact with the web page more than it would if it was just using like static images or things that didn't change like that. So I can like, for instance on this site, I can zoom in on these pictures here and this is all handled by Silverlight where I'm scrolling around and zooming and things like that. So Microsoft Silverlight is basically an interactivity component that can be added to web pages to allow more control over what you're seeing on the web page and also to make it more interesting.
