"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to talk to you about a ROM BIOS. A definition of ROM-BIOS, is Read Only Memory or ROM. And BIOS which stands for Basic Inputs Outputs System. Now this is typically software that has been burned into a chip. That's built into the motherboard on your computer and this software controls the basic functionality. It's sort of a level between your operating system. Which will be Windows or Macintosh or Linux and the hardware. The BIOS is going to be right here in the middle. And it's, what it does is all the talking between the operating system and the hardware. I'm going to show you how to access a BIOS. If we go to our computer here. I'm just going to turn it on. And the way you access the BIOS is to turn the computer on. And while it's booting and you get the manufacturer's screen. You have a string at the bottom. That tells you to press a certain key. To get to the BIOS on your computer. And in my case, it's F2. It could be F1 or sometimes Delete. Depending upon your PC. Now what this, this is my BIOs here. And what it allows me to do. Just a few things. It's a little limited on this particular model. But it allows me to run a hard disk self test. And also do a memory test from within my BIOS. there's not a whole lot of configuration settings. Yours may have a whole slew. But mine just allows me to run a diagnostics here. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just talked to you a little about ROM-BIOS."
