Did you ever wonder where the training comes from to write a research report on a stock that you are looking at buying? Hi this is Roger Groh at Groh Asset Management. Many analysts have used Benjamin Graham as the leader and founder of Modern Security Analysis. He was a professor at Columbia and inspired many large investors including Warren Buffet. You can go to your local library and check out some of his text books. Believe me, much of that analysis or the tools of the analysis are used today. Mr. Graham was a value investor meaning he took a look at break up value and book value businesses and urged folks to pay an awful lot of attention to book value versus market value. His argument was that once market value terribly exceeded book value that things were over valued. Arguments against Mr. Graham would include the lack of vision on growth and the lack of marking book value to real value meaning it's not just an accounting statistic, it's a real moving number. If you want an example of that look at the banks today. So Mr. Graham was the father of modern security analysis. I'm Roger Groh at Groh Asset Management. Go look at his text books.
