Do you ever buy or sell stock on the NASDAQ? Hi, this is Roger Groh with Groh Asset Management. Have you ever wondered about the history of the NASDAQ? It started back in 1971 by the NASD or the Nation Association of Security Dealers. It was designed to provide a place for the trading of stocks that couldn't meet the listing requirements on the lofty American, New York stock exchanges. It undertook the trading in much of the technology and new services that had opened up beginning in the 1970's and then clearly in the 80's, and 90's. Today it's owned by OMX which also owns the Nordic Exchange and the OMX in Dubai. Very interesting blend of exchanges. All electronic and clearly the wave of the future. Many other exchanges around the world have modeled their own after the NASDAQ. After all it's computer to computer and very efficient. What lies ahead? Well if trading volume picks up then NASDAQ aught to do just fine. I'm Roger Groh with Groh Asset Management. Thank you very much for spending time with me.
