"The answer to downgrading Vista is very simply you can't do it since Vista is actually a greater version of Windows actually called Windows 6... versus Windows 5.1 which is XP. So logically, you can't really downgrade it without actually wiping out Vista and then reinstalling XP on the same partition or a different partition than Vista was or is. So, if you try to put an XP DVD or CD, actually CD in a Vista running PC already. So Vista is booted up, you pop in a Windows XP disc. You're going to get an error saying this version of Windows is older than Vista. This operation cannot be completed. So to do that, you want to go ahead and wipe out the partition that Vistas already on. Keep in mind, you'll lose all the data that you have. And then go through the upgrade process and then you'll be able to use XP instead of Vista."
