How to Add DVD Movies to Windows Vista Media Center

"Recording a DVD to your Windows Media Center basically will require you backing up your DVD and then converting it to a format that Windows Media Center will recognize. So generally that is a Windows AVI or WMV file. So, basically what you'll do first is get the information off the DVD. I want to stress that these should only be used as backups of your existing DVDs that you have and own else it's against the law. So, let's take a look at how to do that in a program called DVD shrink. What that'll do is that'll pull the files off the DVD. Once the files are pulled off, then you'll use another encoder to put it in a format that Windows Media Center will see. Once it's in that particular format, you just tell Windows Media Center that you want to look for files in a particular location where you convert to. And then Windows Media Center will then show those videos there inside the menus."
