Hi, I'm Kelli. I'm an aesthetician and makeup artist at Ulta Salon and Cosmetics and I'm going to give you some tips on how you can clear up adult acne. The biggest thing to remember when you're trying to clear up any acne is you can actually use acne as an acronym. You want anti-bacterial, you want to control the oil, you want non-irritating products and you want to exfoliate. So the first thing that you want to do is make sure your skin is really nice and clean. This is a really good salicylic based acne cleanser. This is going to help to basically soften the skin and purge any plugs out of the pores, help to decongest the pores. And then you would want to move on to a treatment. Now depending on what your skin type is, whether you're more on the dry side or more on the oily side, kind of determine how aggressive of an acne treatment that you can get. This particular one is a one percent salicylic acid acne treatment which may be better if you're more of an oily skin. If you're a drier skin or more of a sensitive skin, you're probably better off doing something that's a lower percentage of salicylic acid or even something that's sulfur based or citric acid based as well. Now if you don't suffer from all over break out and it's more of just a hormonal break out here and there, you can also do a really good spot treatment. This is a sulfur based spot treatment which is less drying than a salicylic acid and it also helps to kind of calm any inflammation and pull the impurities out of the pores. Biggest thing to remember when you're treating acne is you want to make sure that you balance the oil and water con...ratio in the skin by using a really good hydrator. If you're using a lot of acne products and stripping a lot of the natural oils out of the skin, you want to make sure that you're replenishing hydration to the skin because what happens when you strip the skin of a lot of it's natural oils, it actually tricks your skin into thinking that it's dry so in turn, your skin produces more oil which can lead to more clogging and more break out so the easiest way to kind of avoid that is to just make sure you're using a really good hydrator.
