"Hi, I'm Kelli. I'm an aesthetician and makeup artist at Ulta Salon & Cosmetics, and I'm going to tell you a little bit about what causes pimples to occur. Basically what a pimple is, it's when dirt, debris, and oil become trapped within a follicle and become infected by the pediacne bacteria. That in turn will turn into either a pustule, or it could turn into a papule, which is without the pus. You can also have, basically a blemish could just be a clogged pore, or it could be a blackhead as well. A blackhead is basically when dirt and oil become trapped within a pore and they oxide, which causes the top of it to turn black. Another thing that can really cause blemishes is if you touch your face a lot with dirty hands, that really transfers a lot of bacteria to the skin. You should also wash your pillow case very frequently. That can lead to a lot of breakout and a lot of blemishes. Also, your diet... if you eat a healthier diet, it's going to keep your skin healthier. It's also going to help to not... basically, purge a lot of impurities out of the pores. So those are some things that can cause pimples."
