How to Apply Eyeshadow to Deep-Set Eyes

"Hi, I'm Kelli. I'm an aesthetician and makeup artist at Ulta Salon and Cosmetics, and I'm going to show you how to apply eye makeup to a deep-set eye. She doesn't have a real deep-set eye, but your basic rule of thumb when you're working with really any makeup is you want to think of a darker color is going to recede or minimize, and a lighter color will enhance or brighten. So, in a deep-set eye what you typically want is you want the lid to stand out more, and you want to kind of push this brow bone back. So, what we're going to do is we're going to start with our lightest color, and we're going to put this all over the lid right up to the crease. Just kind of work it in the crease. Then, we're going to choose a color that's a little bit darker, maybe just a shade darker. We don't want anything too dark, cause' you don't want to have like a super dark brow or anything like that. But, you're just going to take a little bit, and you're going to real lightly start from the crease and just kind of blend it slightly up onto the brow bone up towards the brow. So, applying the darker shade there is going to push that brow bone back, and the lighter color on the eye will bring out that lid. So, if you feel like your eye is kind of hidden or overhung by your brow putting a lighter color on the lid will bring out the eyelid more, and putting a little bit of a darker color on the brow bone will push that brow bone back so your eyes will stand out more. So, that's how you can apply makeup to a deep-set eye."
