I'm Walt Case. I own Card Traders of Austin in Austin, Texas. We sell a variety of sports cards and sports memorabilia. People have asked me, in the past, "What's the value of a Mickey Mantle baseball card?" Well, that all depends on what kind of Mickey Mantle card you have. There are lots and lots of Mickey Mantle reprint cards that range in price from probably one to two dollars all the way up to 10 to 15 dollars. When you get back into the vintage cards, basically from the fifties, then you start to see true value in Mickey Mantle cards. As with any card, condition is extremely important. The better the condition of the card, the higher the price of the card, and the more in demand that card might be. Mickey Mantle's probably most valuable card would be his 1952 Topps card, which many people think is a rookie card, it actually is not. It's a second-year card. 1951 Bowman was his rookie card. But the '52 Mantle is probably the most sought-after card, especially in good condition. If you find that card in really, really pristine condition, which is almost impossible, that card could be well in excess of 20 to 30,000 dollars. That sounds like a lot of money for a piece of cardboard, but it is in extremely high demand and extremely short supply in pristine condition. An example of a Mickey Mantle card, this is a 1957 Topps card. This card happens to be in very, very good condition, and will probably bring in the neighborhood of 900 to 1,000 dollars on the market today. Sometimes you will find Mickey Mantle cards and he will be featured with other players. These are called multi-player cards. But if it's got Mantle on it, that's going to increase its value quite a bit. I would say in your search for vintage cards of Mickey Mantle, the main thing you want to look for is condition of the card, and obviously, how much your budget can afford if you want to buy a vintage Mickey Mantle card. But it is something that is very worthwhile in having, and I think would a value...valued addition to your collection.
