"They say a fly fisherman is only good as his knots. But in reality, with just two simple knots, you can be out there fly fishing. Now what's been nice in the last few years, most fly fishing manufacturers have included pre-made loops in the end of their fly line and most pre-made tippets now have a loop tied in the end too. So what you're going to want to do here is just a simple loop to loop connection and all that is is just pinching together one loop, putting it through the other and then running the line through that loop just like that. Then all you need to do is attach your fly to your line. One of the most popular knots for that is a fairly simple knot called either the clinch knot, the improved clinch knot or the improved fisherman's knot. And all you want to do with that is just run your line through the eye of your fly, give yourself a good 4 or 5 inches to work with. You want to make 5 wraps around the line. Once you've done that, you're going to see the hole at the bottom, run your line through that. You'll notice when you do that you create another loop and you're just going to want to go back through that. Grab the tag and the knot will just slide down and cinch itself tight. And then you just want to trim the end and you're ready to go fly fishing with just a few simple knots."
