"How to reel a fishing reel. The most common mistake you see with people using spinning reels is they're using it upside down and reeling backwards. This is not the right way to do it. All you want to do if it's a spinning reel, the reel should be faced downward and you should be reeling forward. With a conventional reel, you do want the reel facing up but you'll notice that with any type of fishing reel, you want the crank to be going forward, that's the biggest thing. You never want to be reeling a reel with the crank going backwards. Another top with conventional reels is you want to have your non-reeling hand above the reel to give yourself the torque when fighting a fish. A lot of times you'll see people having their non-reeling hand below the reel and that doesn't give you the torque that you need to fight a big fish. With a spinning reel, you actually want to have your hand in between the reel seat with your, in between your pinkie and ring finger, this will give you the action you need to use the hand, to use the rod one handed."
