"How does HD radio work? OK, digital radio and HD radio are basically the same thing. The HD signals are carried through the air on a digital carrier. Once the digital carrier enters the radio through the antenna connection, the signal is processed and if it's an HD signal it's processed so you hear high definition sound which is a very good quality sound which is not compressed, it's open and it's full with a broad dynamic range very similar to a CD player. So when you're listening to digital radio and you're listening to some very good quality music, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it was a CD or if it was the radio broadcast resulting in very pleasing sound. So this is something that you would get by way of purchasing a digital HD radio connecting a proper antenna to it and tuning in to an HD radio channel. A lot of your local FM stations in your area will also have a digital carrier right next to it so on the tuning dial you would tune into your standard FM station and if they had a HD carrier along side, there would be an option on the side to tune the dial one more time and you would pickup the HD channel."
