How to Take Apart a Computer

"Hi, I'm Gary Malec, and in this video I'm going to show you how to take apart a computer. Here we have a newer Dell. I don't know why you'd want to take it apart, but for some reason if you wanted to, you have two screws here on the back, first of all, to get in, here and here. And they're thumbscrews, which is nice. You can just use your thumb, take 'em right out, there's just two. Put 'em aside, don't lose 'em. Now, all you gotta do is slide this panel back. Comes right off. And voila! You have the inside of your computer. Now, here's your hard drive, and if you are taking apart your computer I assume you want to take your hard drive out. So you take...this is the power wire, disconnect that. This is your SATA cable, disconnect that. And then, grab your screwdriver, take your screws out, slide out your drive. Now, if you have any add on cards, you can take this screw out of the back, here, that allows you to remove your add ons.Now I have a fire wire card here, so, I'll show you how to remove that. And just pull it out very carefully and evenly. Always be gentle. And then here we have our RAM chips. Here's our RAM chips. Here we have our RAM chips. They're very easy to remove. Just push down the lever and pull it out. Simple. But be very careful with these, they're extremely fragile. And the other one. Now if you'd like, you can continue to remove the mother board by just taking out the allocated screws, and unplugging the power supply. And it'll come right out. And there you go, just taken apart your nice, new Dell computer."
