"This is John Pinelli, financial representative talking to you today about short term health insurance coverage. Short term health insurance coverage can be obtained fairly affordable and cheap. And what it is intended to do is provide you with short term coverage during a period in your life where you might be in transition. This could be students who just got out of college looking for some coverage in the interim period between when they get out of school and when they find a job that may provide them with coverage. This could be for people that are in between jobs, people that just need health insurance coverage for a very shortened period of time. So short term medical or health coverage may have certain exclusions due to preexisting conditions, where if you have a condition such as a heart condition and you enter in to this short term medical coverage just to try to obtain coverage for this health problem, it probably isn't going to cover you. It's not intended to cover people's problems as they arise. It's intended to cover people's potential problems when they're in an interim period between jobs or periods of unemployment etcetera. It's intended to gap, to provide coverage to fill that gap, not to provide when an instance should occur. So that's an important thing to remember. And it can be fairly affordable to obtain this type of short term coverage. You will need to provide information such as your age, gender, any past type of medical history and problems because they may want to sort of exclude certain things from your policy based on some of the problems that you may have had in the past. But generally speaking this can be fairly affordable to obtain and most people are able to obtain this sort of coverage through many of the major medical providers such as Kaiser, Blue Cross or Blue Shield. If you're looking for something very cheap, you can go on line, do a little bit of research, shop around a bit and see which is the best sort of fit for you individually, because different carriers will have different terms, different prices and different coverages within each individual policy. So it's important to check and make sure that you're getting something that sort of coincides with your lifestyle and your goals.
