"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about Newsgroups. Newsgroups are basically groups of people who get together in one common area on the Internet and they post topics or ask questions to other people who like to go to these Newsgroups. You hear a lot on the Internet about communities or forums, Newsgroup is basically a type of a community just like you would, you would find on forum or something like that. So I'm going to show you how to find good Newsgroups on the Internet. Let's go to our computer and Google actually has a system where you can search Newsgroups. So I'm going to go to Internet and the website that we want to go to is groups.google.com. Now this is Google's Newsgroup search basically and we can explore different groups by type here. So I'm going to click down here where it says browse all group categories. Let's say I'm interested in the computer topic. I'm just going to scroll down here. I want to know a little bit about, oh let's say the Internet. So I'm now in the computer's Internet category. If you scroll down to the very bottom, you'll find the list of Newsgroups that Google has found in its searching the Internet. I'm going to click here on jQuery which is a Java script programming library for websites. As you can see, it's taking to the jQuery Newsgroup. Each of these little items here is a post that was put by somebody onto this Newsgroup. Basically it's going to question or giving some information and you can see, here's the original post, here's where George responded to that post to what his answer and then the original post to respond to something else and somebody else Chan Dan. So this kind of, it's just a, a little explanation of how groups work and what they're used for. My name is Dave Andrews and I've told you a little bit about Newsgroups."
