Hi, I'm Rachel Yatuzis, and I'm going to show you how to remove wax buildup from your linoleum floors. Grab a bucket, and fill it up with two gallons of warm, even hot water. If you're not going to have to touch the water I would get it hotter cause' it'll dry faster, and put a half a cup of ammonia in here. The ammonia is what's going to strip the wax from the floors. A lot of the times, the wax is caused by traditional floor cleaners like this, you know, any kind of oil soap or anything that's supposed to really make a shine. It shines because it has wax in it, and it will build up on your floors. I suggest using vinegar and water to clean all your floors, and you won't have to worry about doing this. But, if you grab a mop, and you get your ammonia and water solution; dip your mop in the ammonia and water. You might want to open some windows, cause' ammonia has a really strong smell. It's really not good for you to breathe in. And you want to remove any furniture from the floor that you're going to be cleaning cause' it could damage wood. So, mop the floor really well. You may be able to feel it pulling the wax up. You may be able to see it. A lot of times wax will show up as like a brownish, blackish messy looking material on your floor. And the key is after you've mopped quite a bit of it you want to rinse the mop out with clean water to rinse all that wax off of it, and then dip it back in the ammonia water so you've got fresh ammonia water to help strip the floors. After it dries you'll be able to see if you missed any spots, and you can go back and repeat this process. I'm Rachel Yatuzis, and that's how you remove wax buildup from linoleum floors.
