Hi, I'm Amelia, and I'm here to talk to you about some ways to get rid of your facial hair, or minimize it, if your skin is dark. When you have dark skin, sometimes a laser doesn't always work, because what the laser does, is the laser is actually attracted to the dark hair, so if your skin is dark as well, it doesn't always work. It can sort of confuse the laser, and actually do some damage to the layer of your skin, so if you're considering laser therapy, for hair removal, just make sure that you go to your doctor first, and talk to them about your skin pigment, and how that's going to work with the laser. If that is a little bit out of your price range, I find that the best way to get rid of facial hair, is waxing. Another way, is if that is too painful, if you are on medications that you can't wax, like certain thyroid medications, prednisone, Retin-A, Renova, anything that exfoliates the skin a little bit, anything that thins the skin, is definitely going to be a no-no, as far as waxing, so threading is another way. Also, tweezing. You're going to want to make sure that you get a slant tipped tweezer, or a pointed tweezer, and you're just going to want to go in, and individually remove those hairs. Also, you've got brush on hair removers, which if your skin is on the sensitive side, sometimes these can be a little bit caustic, and of course, the cream bleach, and a lot of people feel like, oh, well if I bleach my hair, it's going to show up against my dark skin. Actually, no. I find that the cream bleach is a great way to go, because you're not removing the hair, you're just minimizing the look of it, but if you want a nice, smooth finish, waxing, or your basic chemical hair remover, is the best way to go.
