"Hello my name is Dr. Carol Clark. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and sex therapist here in Miami, Florida. In this clip we are going to talk about how soon birth control pills are effective. Birth control pills are hormones that are released into the woman's body and they change the cervical mucous and the uterine lining which then helps prevent pregnancy. It takes a full cycle for this to occur so it is important to be on the pill, take your pill regularly, most accidents happen when the pills are not taken as prescribed. So if you are taking a daily pill make sure that you take one pill each day at the same time and wait a full month or whatever your cycle is before you feel protected. Again wait that full cycle or you will not be protected. Once again this is Dr. Carol Clark in Miami, Florida."
