Now there are various steps you need to take in order to get that highly sought after press pass. The first step is obviously to be a member of either a body, an organization or a representative of a newspaper or a media operator that gives you the credibility if you like in order to request the required pass so in order to collect or obtain this pass you need to obviously prove to the organization running the event, show, or concert that you are indeed a bona fide member of the union, the organization, he institute and that you are there to represent them and of course the event organizer should be in most cases happy to allocate a pass for you because of course at the end of the day it is in their interest you are covering their event. So what you need, you need a business card or some form of proof of identity, a union card, a journalist union card, a photographer's union card, a card that identifies you as a journalist for that organization. You might also need to know the event holder or the event organizer's contact because then it makes life a lot easier if you can contact that person directly. It is very important that once you do this, you do it in time. Because if the event is the next day they have probably allocated all of their passes. If you do it certainly within a week or two weeks notice then you have got a much stronger chance of collecting your pass and really it is just a case of planning and obviously knowing who to contact.
