Chemical pesticides date back 4,500 years, and chemical pest control is still the predominant type of pest control today. While chemical pesticides may kill insects effectively, some may also be toxic to human beings and lead to severe environmental degradation if their use is not properly managed. The best way to monitor your population is with traps and poisons. Poison in the house is probably not where you want to put it. If you do, make sure it's in a tamper resistant bait station, locked down, put away safely. If you have places to put traps, utilize the traps that are available at the stores to trap individual mice. Control your population that way. You can catch mice on glue boards. You can make your glue boards and put them underneath dishwashers, behind the refrigerator, under the stoves. You can put these small traps there, also. Check them on a daily basis. After a couple of days, you'll get an odor. So, don't let that happen. That just makes it all that much worse. They do make multiple catch traps for mice that are spring loaded or with glue boards inside. So, when you're thinking about how do you rid the house of mice, there's some multiple things you have to do. But remember, they need food. They need water. Your house is the shelter. Clean up all the food. Use a good sanitizer. If you have to go around with some type of bleach solution to clean everything up, sanitize the areas and control the mice population that way.
