Hi I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm here to tell you how to clean auto carpet floor mats. They get dirty easily obviously with people stepping on them. My grandmother keeps towels on the floor mats in her car so she never has to do this. I always thought she was crazy but right now when it is ten degrees out here I am starting to think she had something going on that I didn't know about so anyway, remove your floor mats and shake, shake, shake, shake them out really good. You can hit them together or hit your hand on them, just really get all that debris off of them and if you need to get a vacuum and give them the once over with the vacuum or a little hand held vacuum. You just want to remove all the loose materials from the floor mat. Then make a mixture using about a half a cup of laundry detergent in two gallons of water. It will be bubbly like this, get you a scrub brush, dip it in the water and scrub your mats. If you have some sort of material on your floor mats like it looks like all the fibers are going in one direction and you want to scrub in the direction of the fibers not against them. You don't want to ruin your floor mats you just want to clean them and after you have scrubbed all the stains out of them, hang them up to dry. If it is really cold outside like it is here hang them in the bathtub or something like that so they won't freeze and, oh and before you hang them up you want to spray or rinse them off with the hose or something like that or if it is cold like this rinse them off in the tub. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you clean carpet floor mats from your car.
