How to Use Baking Soda to Clean Jewelry

"Hi I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to use baking soda to clean your jewelry. What you really want to do is make a paste. You can use baking soda, mix it with water and you know add a little water, add a little baking soda, get it just right to where you have this pasty substance. Next grab a toothbrush that you have not put cleaning chemicals on. Not a toothbrush that you have used for Comet or bleach or bathtub cleaners or anything like that. You want a toothbrush that has never had anything toxic or too abrasive on it because it could if the chemicals are still on your toothbrush it could hurt your jewelry. Dip your toothbrush in your mixture in the paste, grab a piece of your jewelry, scrub away. Gold, silver, anything. Baking soda is really harmless so you can really clean any kind of jewelry with it even if it has got a turquoise stone in it which is a really sensitive stone. Baking soda is not going to harm anything. It is a good thing, when you find out something is nontoxic and biodegradable usually it is not going to harm sensitive materials or sensitive metals. If you do it one at a time just have a towel or a paper towel setting down to set your jewelry on while it dries. The same goes with silver. Just dip your toothbrush in the mixture or the paste and scrub it. You should be able to do this fairly quickly and your jewelry will look brand new. There is no need to buy expensive jewelry cleaners, go drive to the jewelry store to have your jewelry cleaned. I have never done that in my life because I really just don't think it is necessary.
