Video Transcript

"Hello, my name is Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, board certified dermatologist, and author of "Six Weeks to Sensational Skin." This clip is about how to get rid of pimples on the scalp. The first thing that I have to caution you about is if you should have a pimple on your scalp whatever you do, please do not pick at it. Our scalp is full of bacteria, and that's because our hair harbors a lot of bacteria, so the scalp is one of the easier places to get an infection if you try to pick at a pimple. If you are breaking out on your scalp there are a few things to do. First of all, getting a good acne spa treatment, which will be loaded with some salicylic acid, is very, very good; the acne spa treatment. And just dab it on there. Instead of your fingers dab on the acne spa treatment. Second thing to do is to limit your use of conditioners. Oftentimes, hair conditioners can kind of get into an area of the scalp and a follicle and give you a pimple, so it may be that if you stop using conditioner over the area of the pimple you'll find that it goes away a whole lot sooner. This is Dr. Loretta."
