"Hi. I'm Dr. Carol Clark. I'm a sex therapist and licensed mental heath counselor here in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about what is female orgasmic disorder. It's pretty much what it sounds like, a disorder that results in females, women, not being able to reach an orgasm. A lot of women report not experiencing orgasms and quite a few of them, actually, about 30%, are fine with that. But for many women, they want orgasms and they're not able to reach orgasms, therefore, that's a disorder. Female orgasmic disorder can be caused by a number of things, maybe medical and that's the first thing we want to rule out. So, anyone suffering from this needs to see their medical doctor first. But many reasons are psychological and it could be from the messages that we're given as children about sex and the meaning that we attribute to sex with our partners. Sex is a very powerful means of power and control in a relationship and often female orgasmic disorder is a result of a women trying to control or over control her body in a relationship.
