"Hi, I'm Dr. Carol Clark, I'm a sex therapist and licensed mental health counselor here in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about surgical methods of birth control. The two most popular surgical methods of birth control and the vasectomy for men and tubaligation for women. Vasectomy involves cutting and cauterizing the vas deferens which is the conduit that carries the sperm from the testicles to the penis for ejaculation. When that's cut, the sperm no longer is able to reach the penis, however the semen which is produced in another place farther along the road is still manufactured and able to reach the penis for ejaculation upon orgasm. For women, a tubaligation is cutting and cauterizing the tubes, the fallopian tubes that lead from the ovaries to the uterus and this prevents the egg from migrating to the uterus during menstruation. Once again this is Dr. Carol Clark from Miami, Florida."
