"Hi. I'm Dr. Carol Clark. I'm a sex therapist and licensed mental health counselor here in Miami, Florida. In this clip, we're going to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of contraceptives. Contraceptives are those means that we use to avoid pregnancy. And the advantages are that they will prevent pregnancy and give sexual freedom to people wishing to engage in intercourse without pregnancy. The disadvantages are based on what kind of device you're using or what kind of method you're using for contraception. So barrier methods require putting something on or putting something in before sex. And that often inhibits spontaneity. And some people say that using some sort of a condom, whether it's male or female, reduces sensitivity. Hormonal methods; there's disadvantages in that one must remember to take them all the time. And they have different side effects that can be quite severe. Once again, this is Dr. Carol Clark from Miami, Florida."
