Hi this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about how to stop your dog from marking territory. You know the leash is your friend so always take advantage of the leash and if you have the choker that's a training tool. So if your dog does normally mark a certain territory the best thing to do would be to bring him into that space at the time that he normally marks the territory. You know let's say I didn't want this dog peeing on the tree I would bring him to the tree kind of in a sense and trap him into the behavior and then correct the behavior if he does it. Another alternative is to get your dog spayed or neutered, that does reduce those kind of behaviors because there is less territorial issues involved when the dog doesn't have those hormones so the best way to do it is if he is sniffing or marking a certain area, the leash correction, bring him away from the area and then praise. Once again this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg of Miami Dog Training.
