"Hi this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about how to crate train your puppy. One of the first rules is that you don't want the crate to be too big for the dog. As you can see, this crate is not much bigger than the dog. That does a couple different things, that limits their movement and it doesn't give them too big of a space. If they have too big of a space they'll go to the bathroom, if they have too big of a space they'll move too much which stimulates their metabolism. One thing about, and we also want to limit their water intake. So this is a great tool for that. Standard rabbit feeder, rabbit water bottle. It gives them just enough water to stay wet but doesn't overdo it. Another huge thing is not having anything absorbent in the crate like a towel because what that's going to do is give them something that they can wipe up their own pee or poop with or cover it and get away from it. So limiting their time, limiting their food and limiting their space is a great start on crate training your puppy. Once again this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training."
