How to Train a Puppy to Go Potty Outside

"Hi this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about how to train a puppy to go potty outside. And as you can see, he's going potty. Release. Every time he goes potty what I want to tell him is a word that I'm comfortable with using. The word I use is release. And if every time he goes potty and I say that word, pretty soon he's going to be going on command on that word. And one of the things you want to do, a lot of people have a tendency to just let their puppy out and let them kind of go to the bathroom but you want to bring them out on a leash and let them sniff around, you bring them to a designated area, let them sniff around and give them the keyword, release, release. So we're just going to let him sniff as he's in release. And you keep repeating that word, release, release, and a good indication that your puppy's going to go is you're going to see their rectum kind of push out a little bit and I can see that this puppy is going to have to go shortly. Release, release, release, release, good release. It's always important to praise them as they're doing what they're supposed to be doing. Good release, good boy, good release, good boy, good release. Immediately after you want to praise them. And once again this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training."
