How to Grow Peach Trees From Seeds
To grow peach trees from seeds, plant the seeds about 3 inches below the ground, make sure the seeds begin to germinate, and wait three to seven years for peaches. Grandma and Granddad had a very special peach tree in the back yard that peaches were just super delicious and you want to grow one of those trees exactly like Grandma and Granddad's. Well you can but there are some cautions. This is Richard Skinner coming to you from Plant City, Florida Hawkins Corner Nursery, how to grow a peach tree from a seed. Depending on the area of the country you are in you can take a peach and plant the seed approximately three inches below the ground and it will germinate and it will make a peach tree. Now if you are here in Florida the chances of that long range success are very limited because that particular sweet peach root is not going to be as disease resistant than if you had a grafted tree on a disease resistant root stock. However, if you want to get Grandma and Granddad's peach, in other words reproduce it and you have to do it by seed then the other thing is plant it, grow it for a while and then watch it and see how it is doing. If it is growing real aggressively well you're doing good. You have got something that is going to make some peaches eventually. That is the other thing, don't expect it to start blooming as soon as it gets to be four or five or six feet tall because it is going to have to mature. That can range anywhere from three years to seven years before you get any bloom. Without bloom you are not going to get any peaches but if it is not blooming in those early years, don't worry about it, it will get there. When it gets to be about seven and a half foot tall you want to clip the top off from it and make it spread. That will also encourage it to go ahead and start blooming.
