When Is the Best Time to Plant Peaches?

"So when do you plant a peach tree? This is Richard Skinner at Hawkin's Corner Nursery in Plant City, Florida. See I'm standing next to some of our peach trees that we sell here in Florida for this climate. When's the best time to plant them? Well you can plant my peach trees just about any time. Because they're in containers with a good bit of dirt around the root ball. So it's just a matter of sliding it out of the pot and sliding it into the ground. So that'll be anytime. But a lot of peach trees are bought from nurseries and they're shipped what we call bare root. In other words, there's no dirt around the root. Well those times you want to plant the peach tree in the dead of winter when the tree is totally asleep. It's not a good idea to plant a bare root peach tree in the middle of June, regardless of the part of the country you're in. Here in Florida, it's always best to plant one that is what we call containerized or in other words, there's dirt around it. Anytime you want to plant one that's got plenty of dirt around the root ball is fine. The other thing is, don't plant it too deep and make sure you don't water it too much.
