"This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about buying shares in media companies. The media is one of the fastest growing technologies that we have in this country, in the world in fact nowadays. So buying shares in media companies is a smart thing to do because it's an emerging trend. That being said, there's various conglomerates and media companies that compete against each other and you have to be well aware of what is emerging as a media and what is sunsetting as a media. For instance newspapers are media, but they are many of them going bankrupt at this time and facing significant cutbacks. On the other hand, television, radio and most importantly Internet is exploding on the scene but there are so many new players in that marketplace that overnight an individual can think that they have a good stock in a media company but something better comes along and therefore the share of their media stock has gone down. So make sure you're knowledgeable, knowledge is power and you too can benefit from buying shares in the growing area of media."
