Starting a hedge fund is our topic today, and I'm financial adviser Patrick Munro. Starting a hedge fund is not an easy situation to come across, because you need to be able to read financial indicators and be able to successfully bet against something that's emerging. Some of the most successful hedge fund operators made money betting against the sub-prime mortgage crisis, in fact it would blow up if you will. That was a correct bet. And in order to start a hedge fund you have to have SEC clearance to do so. There are various criteria that needs to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. And then of course you need to attract capital, and there are guidelines and internal controls that are required to draw in that capital, various checks and balances have to be in place. When investors place money with you as a hedge fund manager and you are doing a correct job of managing their money, they too can enjoy superior rates of return on their capital. But they also have to be mindful that a hedge fund is one of the highest risk investments available out there. This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about, how to start a hedge fund.
