First thing you're going to do is you need to get all the equipment you need. If you're going to have a mobile detailing business, you're going to want, obviously, have a nice truck so you look professional going into people's neighborhoods. You're going to want to make sure you have all your buffers, all your polishes, your waxes and your hoses. And some people will even bring a water tank in the back of their truck into people's neighborhoods instead of using their own water. The next thing you're going to want to do is flyers. Flyer the area. Promote your business somehow, some way. One good way of doing it is maybe doing a friend's car who works in a business parking around a lot of people. Do it up real nice and he can hand out flyers when people ask why his car looks so beautiful. Next thing you're going to want to do is, if you get started getting busier, you're going to want to hire staff. And that comes later on down the line, because usually when you're starting your own business, it's usually a one man show. When you own a business, you definitely want to be professional. You want to be able to handle picky customers. They're paying good money to have their investment of their car cleaned and looking beautiful at all times. You have some guy that wants his Ferrari cleaned, well you know he's going to be so meticulous and particular about that car. You will also have to be very detail oriented and you have to be able to deal with those kind of picky customers. They're going to be paying good money to have their beautiful car and their investment looking the best they can possibly look. So, be courteous. Listen to them. Even take a little bit if, they start yelling at you a little bit, because some of them will. Don't forget the legal aspect of it. You want to make sure you have all your licenses in order. You want to go down to your county and your city and make sure that's all done. You want to have your tax number, because you have to pay taxes. You don't want to be messing around with that. And please, don't forget the insurance. If you run a buffer over somebody's $250,000 Lamborghini, you're going to want to be covered for it. Because, believe me, people aren't putting their $500 beaters in the detail shop. Those are just some helpful hints that I can give you to starting your own mobile car detailing business.
