Are you a seasoned investor and looking for ways to reduce the volatility of your portfolio? Hi, I'm Roger Groh with Groh Asset Management. One of the things that you may consider in in terms of your portfolio is who you are using as a portfolio manager to help you. One of the largest mutual fund companies in the world today is Fidelity. And within Fidelity, they have a very large group that deals nothing in nothing but bonds. Now, why bonds? Well done correctly, they can reduce the volatility in your account. For instance, if you had owned treasury bills over the last year, you certainly would've done a whole lot better than if you'd own stock. That's anyone. Going forward, perhaps that will change, but for the last year, it's been to your benefit been in the bond portfolio. So within Fidelity, the types of bond accounts or fixed income investments that you can make could include tax exempt bonds, municipal bonds, it could include treasury bills or corporate bonds or bonds that are convertible into common stock. Look carefully at how each of the funds have performed during bad markets to determine the volatility in that fund during the next bad market. In my mind, if you're only going to make three or four or five or six percent of the year in a bond portfolio, there better not be much volatility. Also, some bond funds use leverage, and that should improve the chances of your overall return. On the other hand, it will introduce more volatility into the portfolio. So, Fidelity is well known.
