In this free video series on investing, a financial planner explains how to manage and invest money. Learn about Forex investment accounts and day trading. Get information on dividend reinvestment plans and hedge funds. Learn how to invest in commodities and how to buy individual stocks, all from these free videos.
"Hi, there. I'm Cathy Pareto, the founder of Cathy Pareto and Associates, certified financial planner, here in Miami, Florida. In this clip, we're going to be talking about commodities. What are commodities? How to buy them? Essentially, a commodity is something that there's a lot of demand for and that there really, from product to product, is very little differentiation -- things like gold, copper, oil, energy, pork bellies. You name it. There's a ton of commodities out there that you can, as an investor, buy. How do you buy them? Well, commodities trade on different exchanges. You can buy them through futures contracts with, you know, a broker or something of the equivalent, or you can buy them pretty easily through what they call exchange traded funds, which is basically a basket of different types of commodities that track a particular index. So you can be a commodities investor pretty easily with these simplified products, buying all sorts of commodities on different exchanges, and commodities have different indices. So depending on the index that you buy, it'll have a different construction. So that's just a little bit about commodities, and this is Cathy Pareto in Miami."
