"Well, hello again. I thought we'd talk a little bit more about single malt scotch whiskey, particularly the Balvenie Distillery. The Balvenie Distillery is in Speyside, an area in Scotland. It is one of the largest and oldest distilleries, and they are also extremely well-known for being the most strict adhering to traditional scotch-making practices. Here's two of their products. One is the 12-year Doublewood, which is aged in two different types of wood casks, and subsequently has a little bit sweeter and more cherry-like flavor. And then the Balvenie 15-year, which is a very well-aged oaky, smoky beautiful scotch that also has a lovely little finish with a hint of caramel and just a hint of peat moss. Both of these whiskeys are in the mid-eighties in terms of their alcohol proof, both of which are perfectly drinkable neat, served at room temperature with no ice. However, they serve very well over ice or with just one ice cube or just a few drops of water. For a real interesting food pairing that's just a little bit out of the box, try a one or two-ounce pour of Balvenie 15-year served neat along with some homemade gingerbread cake. It will change the experience of ginger from being sweet to being spicy, and we all need a little spice in our lives."
