"You may have recently read the newspaper about someone making a citizen arrest or perhaps you've even had occasion where you were in a circumstance where you thought about engaging in a citizen's arrest but you really didn't know what your options are. Hello, I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question, how to make a citizen's arrest. Well, while most countries and all 50 states provide for some form or type of citizen's arrest, in this day of road rage and violent behavior, we strongly urge you not to try to make a citizen's arrest. If you happen to find yourself in a circumstance where you are observing what you believe is a crime in process, we think the better action is to observe what is going on, protect yourself and your family but, as soon as possible, alert the authorities by calling 911 or, if you know the local number to the police station, call that number. Let the authorities that are trained to handle these types of situations handle these situations and protect you, yourself and your family first. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching."
