"You may have recently suffered a setback in your income and you're finding it more and more difficult to pay your debts, and one of those debts is a child support debt and you'd like to know how to reduce that. Hello, I'm Robert Todd, and I'm here to answer the question: How to save money on child support debt. Well, first of all, remember that the law is going to vary from state to state, so you're going to have to check the laws of your particular state and, more particularly, the state in which the judgment ordering child support was rendered. And remember this: You may reach an agreement with the other spouse on what you're paying in child support, but if you don't modify the order or judgment that orders you to pay child support, you really haven't accomplished anything because without a modification of that order or judgment, that order and judgment is the final law of the case. So if you want to reduce it, you're going to have to modify it, and you can either do it voluntarily with the other spouse or you can seek a modification. In that instance, I would strongly urge you to seek the services of a lawyer that specializes in family law to assist you so that you make sure all of the Ts are crossed and Is are dotted. I'm Robert Todd, and thank you for watching."
